Mom Mom Irene’s Schnecken

This is double the amount.  Makes 70-85

2 pkgs of yeast (granulated)

Yeast

Large glass bowl with 2 tbsp of sugar

4 tbsp of warm water

Put yeast in and stir

Leave for 15 minutes

Batter

4 eggs-whip separately

2 tsp vanilla

melt 4 sticks margarine and 1/2 ( 8 oz) cream cheese

4-5 cups of flour (if sticks to your fingers)

5 tbsp of sugar

Makes about 12-14 balls and wrap each ball in wax paper

Put in refrigerator for 1 hour

Filling or Decoration

1 cup sugar

3.5 tbsp cinnamon

1 cup walnuts ground

Directions

Take out the balls and roll out to round rings about 12″ in diameter

sprinkle lots of cinnamon and sugar onto round

Put filling (choc morsels or cherries) near edge

Cut in crecent shape (about 10 crecents for each 12 ” round)

sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on top of each crescent

Oil cookie sheets even if teflon

Bake 350 until spatula lifts crescents easily and they are slightly browned underneath each crescent

Sprinkle filling
