Dallin’s Blackened Mahi Mahi Tacos

Servings: 4



2 lbs of fresh water mahi mahi

1 tablespoon paprika
2 teaspoons dry mustard
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon white pepper
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon salt

Chipotle Sour Cream:

2-3 tablespoons chipotle peppers in Adobo sauce
8 ounces sour cream
1 teaspoon lime juice

Cabbage Slaw (see recipe)

Dallin’s Guacamole (see recipe)


Place lime,  chipotle peppers and sour cream in a chopper or blender and blend until sour cream turns pink. Also make the cabbage slaw and guacamole in advance.

Cut the fish into 1/2 inch wide strips. Combine spices and coat all sides of the mahi mahi. Heat a cast iron pan until extremely hot, about 10 minutes. Pour olive oil or butter into cast iron dish and melt. Place mahi mahi  in pan and cook until charred, about 2 minutes on each side. Warm whole wheat tortillas and serve with chipotle sour cream, cabbage slaw, a spicy salsa and homemade guacamole.
